Thorough communication between you and our dental team is crucial when exploring the option of veneers. We ask patients to provide as much detail as possible during the first consultation — from pictures of smiles you like or your old smile to a detailed list of changes you’d like to see in your current smile.
Tenney Dental can also allow you to sample how veneers would look on your teeth in one of two ways: by creating temporary wax veneers that are applied to the teeth or using a tooth-colored filling to demonstrate the effect of veneers.
Once we find the best course of action, the teeth are prepared by first removing a small amount of enamel, if needed. Molds are then taken and used by a dental laboratory to create permanent veneers. While you wait for a few weeks, we provide a temporary set of veneers to wear. Once the permanent porcelain veneers are ready, they are cemented onto the teeth.
It is important to care for porcelain veneers the same way you would care for your own teeth — with gentle brushing, flossing, avoiding harmful foods, and getting regular checkups. Tenney Dental will provide thorough instructions on how to care for your investment.
